Genetta victoriae Thomas, 1901. Proc. Zool. Soc. Lond., 1901:87.

TYPE LOCALITY: Zaire, Semliki River, 17 km W. of Beni.

DISTRIBUTION: E. Zaire, mountainous regions.

COMMENT: Thomas listed the type locality as "Entebbe, Uganda " from a specimen collected by Sir Harry Johnston. Allen, 1924, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 47: 132, noted that according to Johnston, 1902, The Uganda Protectorate, 1:205, it was collected on the Semlike River in Zaire, not at Entebbe.
