Description

Chrysospalax villosus (A. Smith, 1833). S. Afr. J., 2: 81.

TYPE LOCALITY: South Africa, Durban, "Towards Natal."

DISTRIBUTION: Transvaal, Natal, E. Cape Prov. (South Africa).

COMMENT: Includes dobsoni, leschae, rufopallidus, rufus, and transvaalensis; see Meester, 1974, Part 1.3:2. See Roberts, 1951, The Mammals of South Africa, p. 121 for discussion of type locality.
