Description

Oryx gazella (Linnaeus, 1758). Syst. Nat., 10th ed., 1:69.

TYPE LOCALITY: " India " (= South Africa).

DISTRIBUTION: Namibia and Angola to Transvaal (South Africa); N.E. Ethiopia to N. Tanzania, west to S. E. Sudan and N. E. Uganda.

COMMENT: Includes beisa; see Ansell, 1972, Part 15:49. PG believes beisa is a valid species.
