Description

Rhinoceros sondaicus Desmarest, 1822. Mammalogie, 2:399.

TYPE LOCALITY: Probably Java (Indonesia).

DISTRIBUTION: Formerly Bangladesh, Burma, Thailand, Laos, Kampuchea, Vietnam, and probably S. China through Malay Peninsula to Sumatra and Java. Survives in Ujung Kulon (W. Java), and perhaps in small areas of Burma, Thailand, Laos, and Kampuchea.
