Quality Assessment of Carbon Indicator Tier 1

Description

The carbon indicator (annual CO2 flux) has been computed by NIVA pilot - UC1b

The UC1b team has developed three tools to compute this indicator:

  • the first one at parcel level is a stand alone tool
  • the second one at pixel level is also a stand alone tool
  • the third one at pixel level is embedded in the Iota2 software.

The two first tools, available on NIVA’s Gitlab, allow the processing of one Sentinel-2 tile whereas the third one allows multiple Sentinel-2 tiles to be processed at once and has been tested on the entire French territory.

The first version of this document aims to identify the sources of errors, to estimate their impact on the indicator and to propose potential improvements for the carbon indicator at parcel level.

The second version of this document will include the results of a quality assessment conducted on carbon indicator at pixel level.
