The sports and event tourism development in Rostov region: The case of Taganrog

Sports and tourism in recent years have points of contact, even though the relationship is indirect. For example, sports and event tourism in Rostov region is not a common type of tourism. Event tourism, on the contrary, is widespread in the region. Many mass events are held aimed at promoting the tourist brand of Don, the revival of cultural and historical events. Expositions, exhibitions, reconstructions attract guests of the region. But at the same time, the tourist is not an active participant in the event. The weak development of sports tourism is influenced by several factors, such as the lack of infrastructure of sports facilities, a small number of events held. However, despite all the problems presented, this species is developing on the territory of Taganrog. The article focuses on the development of sports and event tourism in Rostov region. The article considers the basic concepts of sports and event tourism, and factors influencing the presence of sports and event tourism in the region. A running project successfully implemented for five years on the territory of Taganrog is presented.
