Description

This package consists of data and Matlab code for analyzing and modeling the dynamics of Yellow River flood hazard at different time scales during the last 12,000 years., which were organized in three folders: (1) attribution_analysis, which implements PCA regression modeling of the natural changes in flood frequency during the last 7000 years and calculates the anthropogenic contribution to the increased flood frequency during the last millennium with respect to the baseline period of 5000-2500 BCE.; (2) flood_ode_modeling, which models the changes in flood frequency during the last 2000 years driven by catchment erosion and embankment and conducts bifurcation analysis of the dynamic system; (3) flood_recurrence_rate. This is the key component of the research, including several functionalities such as Bayesian age modeling of sedimentary records, bootstrapping of historical and modern flood events, Gaussian kernel density estimate of flood recurrence rate, and correction for taphonomic bias.
