Balancing open for ECRs
Description
My thoughts for a panel discussion on "Balancing Open for ECRs" at the Oxford Berlin Summer School on Open Research, 2022.
Brief:
Speak for 8 minutes on viable strategies for ECRs to incorporate and balance open science activity with their research and career development. Qs to cover: How can open research contribute to career development? Where are the limits of open research? What services/strategies exist to ease opening up research? What case studies do you know of where open research really made a difference? Where do you see need for additional development to further open up research? Can you think of examples where open science can actually be detrimental to scientific progress? Who should provide quality control on open data, code, and protocols? In how far are preregistrations helpful to establish rigorous research?
