Description
Entomology, as a western practice of treatment and knowledge of insects, has biased its epistemic and experimental practices towards commercial purposes in which, based on its fragmented study, it defines actions for the control of the now called pests with the purpose of commercializing chemicals for their "control". From this initial context of reflection, in contrast, we observe the relationship between man and nature in which insects are a vital part of interaction and have been appreciated by rural communities since ancient times. The conclusion is reached that the health of crops does not depend on the annihilation of insects, but that, on the contrary, it is time to listen to the knowledge of the people and the ways in which they advance control practices in which agriculture is environmentally friendly
