Description
Aim: This research was conducted to examine the interventional
postgraduate theses in the field of women’s health nursing related
to gynecological oncology in Turkey. Materials and Methods: This
research was conducted using the document analysis method. In
the research, combinations of the words “gynecological cancer”,
“gynecological oncology”, “nurse” were scanned in the National Thesis
Center Database of the Council of Higher Education, and a total of 314
theses were reached. Fifteen theses, which were interventional and
made by nurses, which allowed full-text access, were examined in
more detail using the document analysis method. Results: The theses
examined in the research were carried out between 2006-2021, 2 of
which are master’s and 13 are doctoral theses. 4 of the theses were
carried out in the department of nursing, 11 of them were carried out
in the department of obstetrics and gynecology nursing. Although the
aims of the examined theses vary, in general, the quality of life and
well-being levels of gynecological oncology patients, their anxiety
and depression status, symptom management after chemotherapy,
the sexual life of patients, the awareness of patients and caregivers
on this subject are theses. It was determined that most of the theses
examined were in the experimental research type, and the results of
the research showed that the patients experienced various problems
in terms of quality of life and well-being, anxiety and depression,
symptom management after chemotherapy, and sexual life, and that
nurses made various interventions in this area. Conclusions: 15
interventional theses in the field of women’s health nursing related
to gynecological oncology in Turkey have been reached, and in the
studies reached, it has been determined that interventions related to
gynecological cancers increase the quality of life of patients and are
effective in symptom management
