Photometric variability classification and astrometric planet detection with Gaia DR3
- 1. Department of Astronomy, University of Geneva
Description
With 34 months of data in Gaia DR3, it has been possible to expand the photometric variability analyses to include a classification of 24 groups of variability types for nearly 10 million variable objects. In this talk, we discuss the major steps and hurdles that were taken to reach this result and highlight some of the time-sampling and scan-angle specificities that make Gaia time series data both interesting and complicated to work with. Additionally, we will discuss the first sample of Gaia astrometric orbits of planetary-mass companion candidates.
