Creating Polish Working Group of the Data Stewardship Competence Centers Implementation Network (DSCC-IN PL) by the Gdansk University of Technology Library as an example of the community of practice building
Description
Open Science may be seen as a movement that engages different stakeholders to practice openness in the research process at many levels. Drawing from the experiences gained from the Bridge of Data project (with a primary goal of building a data repository), Gdańsk Tech Library put effort into building up a community that would be involved in the practice and popularisation of Open Access (OA), Open Research Data (ORD), and Open Scholarly Communication (OSC). The official kick-off of the Polish Working Group of the Data Stewardship Competence Centers Implementation Network (DSCC-IN PL) took place on 03 December 2021. The poster shows the mission of the Group, its structure proposal, communication tools and the current activities.
Our poster is essential for understanding the process of creating a community of practice in the context of Open Science. Building such a community and at the same time being part of the culture change that offers openness in science is challenging. No single researcher or librarian would be able to achieve those results alone. Gdańsk Tech Library's strategy to popularise and practice Open Science requires many actions supported by a team of people with different competencies.
