Description

Family MYZOPODIDAE

(MADAGASCAR SUCKER-FOOTED BATS)

• Relatively small insectivorous bats, with distinctive sucker-like structure on wrists and ankles, as well as elon-gated ears with mushroom-like structure at their bases.

• 9-11 cm.

• Afrotropical Region (Madagascar).

• Humid and dry deciduous forests, forest edges, and open areas with palms, and often marshy areas.

• 1 genus, 2 species, 2 taxa.

• No species threatened; none Extinct since 1600.
