Description
The German Network for Bioinformatics Infrastructure - de.NBI has compiled a list of Key Performance indicators (KPI) categories to validate the impact of their bioinformatics services. Monitoring these indicators to quantify the scientific impact of bioinformatics services like software, tools, web services, data bases is crucial for further development, maintenance of a service and as a reference to funders.
de.NBI services were defined into the categories databases, libraries, workflows/pipelines, tools/applications, support/consulting and web applications. For each category useful KPI have been defined as mandatory or optional. Each service provider is responsible to collect the respective indicators.
This illustration gives a comprehensive overview of of the KPI mutually agreed upon in the de.NBI network and for further use in the scientific community.
We provide definitions of the categories, mandatory and optional KPI for each category, definitions of KPI and means to collect them.
