Description
Global metabolomics aims to comprehensively study metabolic profiles of various biological systems. Due to their convenient accessibility and rich information contained, blood samples are often used in clinical metabolomics. These samples can be stored and analyzed in three forms - serum, plasma or whole blood. However, the differences in the chemical profiles of these three blood sample types are not fully characterized, especially for mass spectrometry (MS)-based metabolomics. To address this knowledge gap, we performed an untargeted metabolomics on serum, plasma, and WB using a UHPLC-Q Exactive MS/MS platform.
