Studies on the Citrate Complexes of Zinc(II) and Manganese(II)
Authors/Creators
Description
The citrate complex of zinc and manganese have been studied by pH titration method and the results corroborated by the measurements of sp. conductance. The reactions taking place may be represented by
M2++ H3Cit \(\rightleftharpoons\) C+ 2H+ .. (1 |
C \(\rightleftharpoons\) \(C_1^-\) +H+ .. (2) |
\(C_1^-\) \(\rightleftharpoons\) C22- + H+ .. (3) |
M2++H2O \(\rightleftharpoons\) MOH++H+ .. (4) |
The equilibrium constants of the reactions (1), (2), (3), and (4) are respectively 6.36XI0-5,
4.89XI0-5, 2.00X10-8, and 1.35X 10-5 for zinc citrate and 1.33X10-5, 1.95X10-5, 3.07X10-9, and 2.97X10-7 for manganese citrate.
