ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT OF URBAN PUBLIC SPACES

The objective of this research is to characterize and analyze the environmental management of urban green spaces. The research is exploratory-descriptive, legal and formulated from content analysis. The instruments of data collection were informal conversations and semi-structured interviews around plans, projects and / or programs related to the municipal public policy of environmental management. The results of the research demonstrate the existence of environmental management, planning and execution of public policies in green areas within urban public spaces in the city of Aracaju. Environmental management is developed based on bureaucratic principles of government. The following stand out: There is a multidisciplinary team working in strategic sectors of municipal public administration, there is relative autonomy of decision, mainly in relation to environmental education plans, projects and programs, quality of life is a common theme among environmental managers And there is a lack of knowledge management within the bodies related to the theme, that is, access to information on projects, plans and programs becomes very difficult.
