A virtualidade na ciência: o caso das cirurgias virtuais

RESUMO: A mídia inscreve nossa situação. A rápida convergência da comunicação mediada por computador, as tecnologias da visualização e as simula- ções de todos os tipos estão transformando os modos pelos quais realizamos nosso trabalho e o sentido que atribuímos a “experimento”, “teoria”, “autor” e de nosso próprio “eu”. As relações entre modelo e realidade são revertidas. O real é o hiperreal. O que está causando essa transformação do real? O que ocorre com a posição do sujeito preso nessa nova formação discursiva? A tese a ser explorada diz respeito à contribuição da materialidade da comunicação à constituição do sujeito no caso particular da posição do autor/cirurgião como sujeito no contexto de realidade virtual da medicina contemporânea. Seguiremos a mudança ocorrida do “corpo energético” ao “corpo informação” e entreteremos a idéia de voltar do “corpo informação” a um novo “corpo energético”.

VIRTUALITY IN SCIENCE: THE CASE OF VIRTUAL SURGERIES

ABSTRACT: Media inscribe our situation. The rapid merging of computer mediated communication, technologies of visualization, and simulations of all kinds are transforming the ways in which we perform our work and think of “experiment”, “theory”, “author”, and our “selves”. The relationship between model and reality is reversed. The real is the hyperreal. What is bringing about this transformation of the real? What about the position of the subject caught up in this new discursive formation? The thesis to be explored concerns the contribution of the materiality of communication to the constitution of the subject in the particular case of the position of the author/surgeon as subject within the context of virtual reality at work in contemporary medicine. We will follow the shift that has taken place from the “energetic body” to the “information body” and entertain the notion of going back from the “information body” to a new “energetic body”.
