Structure of Benzylideneacetone - phenol Condensation Products

Description
The compound, C22H20O2, obtained from phenol and henzylideneacetone, provides salicylic acid on alkali fusion and a cyclic ether, C16H16O, and a flavanone on oxidation with neutral KMnO4 as also a trace am mid. From these, a probable degradation products structure of the compound is suggested.
