Lordiphosa yangi Katoh & Gao, sp. nov.

(Pls 1H, 3–5H, 7H; Fig. 10)

Diagnosis. Cercus ventrally tapered, with a fringe of ca. 4 spines on apicoventral margin (Fig. 10C,D,F). Paramere apically bifurcated: dorsal branch thin, elongated, nearly 3 times as long as ventral one (Fig. 10K,L).

Description (♂, ♀). Head (Pls 1H, 3–5H, 7H): Frontal vitta brown, anteriorly paler. Fronto-orbital plate brown, somewhat paler than frons, sometimes darker surrounding bases of orbital setae. Ocellar triangle brown to dark brown. Face, facial carina, and gena yellowish brown. Occiput dark brown, dorsally yellowish brown. Postgena yellowish brown, dark brown near occiput. Antennal pedicel yellowish brown; 1 st flagellomere pale grayish yellow; arista with 4–5 dorsal and 1 ventral branches and small terminal bifurcation. Supracervical setulae 14–19 per side; postocular setae 15–18 per side. Palpus yellowish brown. Clypeus grayish yellow, dorsally darker. Cibarium with 16–20 medial and 12–14 posterior sensilla per side. Prementum with 5–6 (1 proximal, 1–2 central, 2 lateral, and 1 distal) pairs of setae.

Thorax (Pl. 1H) yellowish brown to brown. Mesonotum sometimes medially with brown to dark brown, longitudinal, caudally broadened stripe. Scutellum darker than mesonotum. Acrostichal setulae in 6 regular rows. Mid katepisternal seta indistinguishable from those below it.

Legs (Pl. 1H, Fig. 10A,B): Male foreleg with ca. 4, 2, and 1 transverse sex-combs composed of not so thick teeth on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd tarsomeres, respectively; each row consisting of 2–4 teeth. Foreleg 1 st tarsomere slightly shorter than total length of 4 succeeding tarsomeres. Midleg 1 st tarsomere slightly longer than total length of 4 succeeding tarsomeres.

Abdomen (Pl. 1H): Tergites grayish yellow, glossy, caudally sometimes with brown, narrow, marginal bands.

Male terminalia (Fig. 10C–L): Epandrium yellowish brown, pubescent except for anterior subdorsal to ventral margin, with ca. 18 long setae per side; ventral lobe elongated, apically rounded. Cercus yellowish brown, with ca. 20 long setae. Surstylus with a row of ca. 9 prensisetae on caudodorsal margin and ca. 40 recurved setae on ventral portion of inner surface. Hypandrial caudolateral plates pubescent. Parameres curved ventrad, proximally Ushaped in lateral view, distally slightly divergent from each other. Gonopods dorsomedially roundly concaved in lateral view. Aedeagus nearly entirely membranous, almost sheathed with gonopods; apodeme apically broadened in lateral view, as long as aedeagus.

Female terminalia (Fig. 10M–O): Tergite VIII pale grayish yellow, caudally pubescent, caudodorsally swollen in lateral view and with ca. 5 setae. Epiproct and hypoproct grayish yellow, darker than tergite VIII. Oviscapt valve apically somewhat truncated in lateral view, narrow in ventral view, with ca. 14 marginal and ca. 42 minute, lateral ovisensilla. Spermathecal capsule spherical, nearly as broad as long, apically not indented; introvert about 2/5 height of capsule.

Holotype. ♂ (#06005), Mt. Duoxiongla, Linzhi, Xizang, China, 3,200–3,500 m a.s.l., 24.ix.2010, J.J. Gao (KIZ).

Paratypes. CHINA: 3♂ (#00412, #00414, #06048), same data as holotype; 1♀ (#06035), same data as holotype except for 3,500–3,800 m a.s.l. (KIZ).

Distribution. China (Xizang).

Etymology. Patronym, in honor of Dr. Xing-Ke Yang (Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences) for kindly facilitating our 2010 field survey in Xizang.

Remarks. This species closely resembles L. curva in the male and female genitalia, but can be clearly distinguished from it by the apically bifurcated paramere and the apically not indented spermathecal capsule. This species also resembles L. ramula in having the apically bifurcated paramere with unequal branches, but the dorsal branch of the bifurcation is much longer in the new species than in L. ramula.
