On the Formation of 1,2,4-Triazole-5-Thiol
Description
Depending on the nature of acyl group the interaction of an acylhydrazine with thiourea at 125-130° leads to the formation of either 1, 2, 4-triazole-5-thiol or l-acyl thiosemicarbazide. The latter can be converted to triazole-5-thiol by subsequent reaction with sodium ethoxide. The triazole 5-thiol changes to the corresponding triazole derivative on oxidation with nitric acid.
