Description
Currently, Pollution is a major concern for the entire world and especially for a country like India. A recent global report depicted that many cities in the India have the highest pollution in the world. Major sectors responsible for air pollution are industrial sector and transport sector. 51% of air pollution is caused by the industrial sector and 27% by the transport sector. As a result it contributes to the premature deaths of 2 million Indians every year. Considering these statistics Electric vehicles are becoming more of a necessity than a choice as electric vehicles could help us reduce Green House Gas emissions while offering numerous other advantages like lower running cost, reduced pollution, higher efficiency, less noise and reduction in oil import bills. However the use of electric vehicles on large scale is currently restricted by few challenges like availability of charging stations, battery management system, charge range, etc. This research paper provides a glance on the importance of electric vehicles and challenges currently faced by electric vehicle manufacturers and users though compilation of the information available from various existing research papers, on site visit to various electric vehicle showrooms, internet, etc.
