What role does Industry 4.0 play in Supply Chain Responsiveness Capabilities? A Systematic Literature Review

The present work offers an overview of the current state of the literature on the impact generated by the emerging ITs of Industry 4.0 (I4.0) on Supply Chain Responsiveness capabilities. The methodology followed is the Systematic Literature Review, with articles on this subject located for the period between 1999, the year when the first work on Supply Chain Responsiveness was published, and May 2021. A novel classification is offered that groups the works according to the specific emerging technology and the capability or set of capabilities enabled by the said IT related, on the one hand, to Supply Chain Flexibility and, on the other, to Supply Chain Agility. Gaps and challenges are also identified that research should cover in the future, on the role that the emerging technologies play in the Supply Chain Responsiveness capabilities.
