La intertextualidad a sus anchas: del poema a la copla en Enrique Morente
Description
In this article, we will pay special attention to the variants and adaptations that occur in the passage from the written poem to the performed song in the work of Enrique Morente (1942-2010). Determining how Morente selects the sung poems, what is his tendency to musicalise them, whether or not he respects the original poem; all of this will allow us to identify, at least in part, the premises of his flamenco poetics.
Through his singing, Morente brings together cultured and popular poetry with a naturalness and exuberance never before seen in any other flamenco singer. In his artistic stance, the popular is written as much as the cultured is sung. Taking advantage of the ductility of flamenco musical structures and versification, he reinstates the legitimacy of the popular as a source of written authorship and at the same time disseminates cultured poetry.
