Polarographic Reduction of Bromocresol Purple

Polarographic reduction of bromocresol purple has been studied in Mcllvaine, Kolthoff, Walpole and Britton Robinson buffers using KCI as supporting electrolyte. The is found to be independent of \(p\)H in the range \(p\)H <4 and is shifted to more negative potentials as \(p\)H is increased. A tentative mechanism has been suggested for the electrode process.
