Archaeological Subsurface Investigations at the Royal Sydney Golf Club Rose Bay

Description

Previous renovations beneath the club house of the Royal Sydney Golf Club (RSGC) in Rose Bay resulted in the discovery of Aboriginal human remains (Donlon 2005). Donlon (2005, 18) recommended that "any further large-scale removal of undisturbed sand or soil in the grounds ofthe RSGC be monitored for further possible burials".

This report documents the archaeological investigation of two areas beneath the original dune surface at the RSGC. As with the earlier work the La Perouse Local Aboriginal Land Council (LPLALC) has been involved in the current recovery and all management decisions regarding the finding of cultural and human remains. ...
