Description

Manuscript received 17 August 1979, accepted 30 December 1979

Chromatographic separations of certain closely resembling metallic ions, which are involved in various important special alloys have been effected over plain and impregnated papers, thin layers of silica gel and cellulose. Solutions of certain Schilf-bases derived from Vanillin in pure and mixed solvents were used for irrigating plain papers and thin layers spotted with the metallic ions, while a series of polar and nonpolar solvents constitute the mobile phase in case of the impregnated papers. The results obtained with these techniques have been compared with those obtained using paper electrophoresis and have been discussed in the light of the phenomenon of the coordination.
