Description
This article aims to contribute to the discussion of methodologies for analyzing and
mitigating large hydroelectric projects’ impacts on fishing systems. The documents
guiding the implementation of the Tabajara Hydroelectric Plant (Machado river-
Rond nia State) were analyzed regarding the dimensioning of the impacts on fishing
activity and its users, traditional and indigenous riverside communities, and subsistence
and professional artisanal fishers. The analyzes conducted showed that the EIA-RIMA
of UHE TABAJARA has errors regarding the dimensioning of the impacts on fishing
resources and fishing activity; of the directly affected area and the affected population.
Which will lead to errors in the dimensioning of mitigation measures and compensation
of impacts on fisheries. This scenario has been repeated in licensing processes for
hydroelectric projects in the Amazon, with great harm to those affected.
