Description
Mechanical, programming and electronic source of BeeGOns! Wireless sensor node.
Mechanical in Solidwork, programming in python and electronic in Eagle.
The widespread deployment of sensors interconnected by wireless links, together with the management and exploitation of the data collected have given rise to the concept of Internet of Things (IoT). However, despite the large number of wireless sensor networks already available in the market, there are still many issues to be addressed on the development and deployment of wireless array of sensor nodes capable of responding to the demand and service requirements of Smart City applications. In this paper, we undertake the design and development of a wireless sensor node following the Fog Computing paradigm. Our design is based on the integration of various off-the-shelf sensors smartly packaged into an air-flow module and the use of low-power communications technologies. Our results include a comparative energy consumption study based on two different communication technologies.
