Synchronization Techniques for Grid Tied Inverters

Synchronizing grid tied inverters is one of the most popular problems that face these days smart grids, renewable energy and distributed generation systems. This paper takes the advantage of showing synchronization techniques for grid tied inverters and comparing them at different operation situations. Both Phase Locked Loop - PLL and Sinusoidal Tracking Algorithm - STA techniques were simulated in MATLAB/Simulink environment and the results had been compared at frequency and voltage variations along with harmonics presence in the grid.
