TU Delft Research Data Management 101 course - Assignments Data Flow Map

Description

The assignment ‘Data Flow Map’ is part of the TU Delft  Research Data Management 101 course for PhD candidates (DOI: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.6325919)

The objectives of this assignment are:

  • To reflect about the data that the learners will be collecting or producing within their research projects.
  • To apply the RDM concepts, best practices and tools learned during the course to the learner’s own research projects
  • To prepare a good plan for managing the research data and code of the learner’s research project

The learners of the course need to complete the Data Flow Map - Part 1 after the first week of the course and the Data Flow Map - Part 2 after completing the second week. At the end of the third week of the course, the learners will use their data flow map to reflect on what are the next steps they will be implementing in their research projects.

A PowerPoint template is provided to the learners to fill in their reflections, but participants are also encouraged to create their own data flow maps using their own structure and materials. They need to submit a digital version of their data flow maps.

The assignment Data Flow Map is based and adapted from the ‘Data flow tool kit’ - https://dataflowtoolkit.dk (CC-BY-SA)

In this publication you find:

  • The instructions shared with the learners in week 1, 2 and 3 of the course on how to complete the different assignments
  • The templates provided to the learners for the assignments of week 1 and 2
