Description

Chlorella vulgaris Microalgae photobioreactor to optimize the production Oxygen (O2) concentration has been
developed. The photobioreactor consisted of temperature control using LM35 Sensors, Oxygen concentration measuring
device using SK-25F sensor and the Chlorella vulgaris photobioreactor itself which were integrated in a system. The
Photobioreactor was illuminated by halogen lamp and Blue LED. Not only being illuminated by varying light source but it
was also set in condition without light (0 lux), so the difference of Oxygen concentration that was produced in every light
condition with different lgiht intensities can be examined. photobioreactor has two tubes containing 1250 ml microalgae
Chlorella vulgaris. The first tube is supplied by CO2 gas with flow rate 0.5 l / min and the second tube is not supplied by
CO2 gas. The intensity of halogen lamp has varied at 1000 lux, 3000 lux and 5000 lux, meanwhile Blue LED was 1065 lux.
Temperature control successfully maintained the photobioreactor temperature in the range 25 °C - 35 °C. The maximum
concentration production of O2 gas was 21.7%. This maximum concentration was obtained from photobioreactor using a
1000 lux halogen lamp with CO2 supply after 7 hours illumination. The Oxygen concentration measuring device that had
been designed gave 1,383 % of MSE. This result was obtained by comparing the result of designed device to reference
device (Gas Alert Microclip).
