The Urbanonto System. User Guide

Description

The Urbanonto Ontology is an OWL ontology stored in Turtle serialization. It is a domain ontology, which aims to conceptualize the history of the topographic objects which make up an urban centre, as depicted in traditional topographic maps. It is a result of the Historical Ontology of Urban Space project urbanonto.ihpan.edu.pl

In the Urbanonto system, ontology serves a two-fold, purpose. It serves as:

  1. a glossary of terms connected with urban representation
  2. a resource containing the data used in the database:
    1. list of topographic object types
    2. list of functions

The Urbanonto Ontology makes direct use (meaning owl:import) of two additional ontologies:

  1. BDOT10k ontology
  2. ontohgis ontology.
