Alopecosa virgata Kishida 1909

Description

Alopecosa virgata (Kishida, 1909) **

Chikuni, 1989: 110, f. 6.

Material examined: 7 ♀♀ 1 ♂, Sikhote-Alinsky Reserve, Blagodatnoe Kordon, 44º56'N 136º32.6'E, 7- 12.07.1999, YS; 1 ♀ 8 ♂ ♂, Ussuriysky Reserve, Komarovo-Zapovednoe, 43º39'N 132º20.7'E, 22- 29.07.1999, YS.

COMMENTS. The first record in Russia and the westernmost point of distribution. Almost indistinguishable from the circum-Holarctic A.aculeta (Clerck, 1757). Only cover of the cymbium as well as the structure of embolus (visible only in dissected palp) allow to separate these two species. All records of A. aculeata from eastern China probably refer to this species. Similarity of these species was firstly indicated by Torbjorn Kronestedt (personal communication).
