Description

Koppe calciphilasp. n. (figs 405-409, map 21)

Type locality.— Indonesia, SW Sulawesi, Camba, Type material,— Holotype from the type locality, on the road Udjung Pandang-C amba, 23 km from Camba in forest on limestone, in ravine, 9-viii. 1980; paratypes: 3 ♀, 1 ♀ without abdomen, same data, 8-9.viii.1980, all P.R. and C L. Deeleman.

Other material — None.

Diagnosis.— Easily recognisable by the cones on the anterior abdominal margin. Male palpal tibia with rectangular retrolateral apophysis, wider than long, bulb with large membranous conductor; embolar plate covering proximal, retrolateral segment of tegulum. Epigyne distinctive.

Description.— MALE (fig. 405). Total length 4.00 mm. Carapace length 1.85 mm, width 1.30 mm. width head 0,90 mm, eye group width 0,65 mm; abdomen length 1.90 mm, width 1.30 mm. Leg length: leg 1 7.60 mm (1.75-2. 70-2.15-1. 00), leg II 5.70 mm (1.50­ 2,00-1.45-0.75); leg III 4.50 mm (1.20-1, 40-1.25 -0.65); leg IV 6.05 mm (1.50-1. 90-1.75­ 0.90), palp 0.85-0.35-0.45- 0.85 mm. Carapace colour and marking as in the other species; legs yellow, coxae and femora orange. AME slightly larger than ALE and PE, distance between anterior eyes 1/2 d ALE; posterior eyes separated by 1 1/2 d. Chelicerae and sternum as in other species. Legs: tibia 1 with 8 pairs of ventral spines, tibia II with 7pv, 6rv, metatarsus I with 6 pairs, metatarsus II with 5pv, 4rv, leg III and IV spineless. Femora of palps with a row of 3 ventral spines on sockets. Abdomen covered for 3/4 with dorsal scutum, ventrally with epigastric scutum and post-genital scutum till halfway spinnerets. Palp see diagnosis and figs 406, 407; wide duct appears in prolateral segment of tegulum. Conductor membranous till near tip.

FEMALE. Carapace length 1.75 mm, width 1.20 mm, head width 0.85 mm, eye group width 0.60 mm; epigyne 0.35 mm wide. Leg lengths: leg I 6.35 mm (1.50-2. 40-1.75-0.70), leg II 4.90 mm (1. 25-1.75-1. 25-0.65); leg III 3.90 mm M. 00-1.30-1. 05-0.55); leg IV 5.30 mm (1.40-1,75-1.50-0.65). palp 0.50-0.25-0.40- 0.70 mm. Somatic characters as male, colouring of legs: femora orange, tibia and metatarsus of leg I and II orange, patella and tarsus of leg I and II and distal segmen t of leg III and IV yellow. Spine formula: tibia I with 8-9 pairs of ventral spines, tibia II with 7-Spv. 6-7rv, metatarsus I 6 pv, 6rv, metatarsus II 5-6 pv, 4 rv: palpal femur a row of 4v. Other legs spineless. Dorsal scutum 3/4 abdominal length. Epigyne fig. 408, showing a dark area in the shape of an upside-down V, adjacent to sides a pair of oval orange areas. Vulva fig. 409.

Distribution.— Limestone area north of Udjung Pandang in SW Sulawesi.

Etymology — The name expresses the affinity to calcareous limestone.
