Pheidole coffeicola Borgmeier

Pheidole coffeicola Borgmeier 1934: 98.

Etymology L coffeicola, living with coffee, referring to the coffee plantation where the type colony was collected.

diagnosis A medium-sized, dark yellow species close to variegata (q.v.), and possibly synonymous, differing in the major in its more protuberant, subangular humerus, shorter postpetiolar node, much less extensive rugoreticulum on the head, and color. P. coffeicola may also be distinguished by the presence of abundant short, decumbent hairs (and no erect hairs) in the minor. See also less similar laevifrons, mooreorum, pubiventris, seeldrayersi, and zelata.

Measurements (mm) Lectotype major: HW 1.22, HL 1.16, SL 0.84, EL 0.20, PW 0.56.

Paralectotype minor: HW 0.56, HL 0.74, SL 0.96, EL 0.14, PW 0.40.

color Major and minor: concolorous dark yellow.

Range Suriname, also recorded by Kempf (1972b) from Para, Brazil.

Biology Unknown.
