Lysiopetalum degenerans bosniense Verhoeff, 1897 a, p. 152, fig. 8 Figs 15–16
Material examined
slides of male gonopods, first and sixth legpairs, holotype [Lysiopetalum degenerans bosniense, Bosna, Apfelbeck leg.] prep. No. 819–820, Inv. No. 12933a,b (ZMB); slide of male 1–7 legs, non type [Jaice], prep. No. 821 (ZMB).
PLATE 3. Dorypetalum helenae sp. n., holotype: Figs 13–14: gonopod, lateral and mesal views, respectively. Dorypetalum bosniense, holotype (ZMB, prep. No. 819–820): Figs 15–16: gonopod, lateral and mesal views, respectively. Abbreviations, see text. Scale bars: 1 mm.
Remarks
Initially Verhoeff (1897a) described bosniense as a subspecies of degenerans, Strasser (1974) raised it to full species rank. Originally described from BosnaQuelle (Vrelo Bosne) near Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina, subsequently Verhoeff (1897b, 1899) recorded it also from Jaice and Plivathal. Much later, Attems (1929) added new records from near Banja Luka, Vrbastal, Ramatal and Plasa, all being within the boundaries of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The original slide of gonopods preserved in the Museum für Naturkunde, Humboldt Universität zu Berlin (ZMB) were studied and new illustrations are here provided for better delimitation of the species. It is worth mentioning also that the apical part of the gonocoxa of the holotype is not well visible in the slide. Therefore, the purported lack in bosniense of the typical tuft of stout setae may actually be an artefact due to clumsy slide preparation. If this is the case, then these setae should be lying at the anterior end of gonocoxa similarly to those of trispiculigerum. However, this question can be resolved only with investigation of topotypical material of bosniense.
