Zelotes exiguoides Platnick & Shadab 1983

Material examined.— Canada: Québec: Pontiac, Parc de la Gatineau, Petite colline d’Eardley [45°33’N, 76°01’W] 17.v.2000, rock outcrop, 1ɗ, P. Paquin (CPAD).

Diagnosis.— Zelotes exiguoides is distinguished from other species by the combination of the following characters: tip of the embolus projecting basally (E) (Figs 14–15) and a slightly bent retrolateral apophysis (RTA) (Fig. 15). Females have an epigynum with well­separated lateral epigynal margins (LEM) (Fig. 16), anterior epigynal margin connected (AEM) (Fig. 16), and long and arched copulatory ducts (CD) (Fig. 16).

Distribution.— Transcontinental, south of the boreal region. Southern Canada and northern USA.

Remark.— This record is the northernmost for the species in the eastern portion of North America (see Platnick & Dondale 1992), but its presence is not surprising as Hutchinson & Bélanger (1994) provided a record of the species from northern Ontario, about 60 km south of the present locality.
