Description

Macromotettix guangxiensis sp. nov. (Fig. 1)

Diagnosis

Macromotettix guangxiensis sp.nov. is similar to Macromotettix wuliangshana Zheng et Ou, 2003, but differs in: frontal costa slightly concave between lateral ocelli, upper margin of pronotum undulated in profile, lateral keels of prozona constricted backward, lower margins of middle femora straight, lower margins of middle femora without long hairs.

Description

Ψ Fig. 1: Size small. Head exserted above the pronotal surface (Fig.1 b,1c). Anterior margin of vertex straight (Fig.1 a), slightly protruding beyond eyes, median carina conspicuous. Width of vertex narrower than width of an eye, in profile, vertex and frontal ridge forming obtuse round shape (Fig.1 b,1c). Frontal costa slightly concave between lateral ocelli, frontal ridge slightly protruding archly between antennae (Fig.1 b,1c), width of longitudinal furrow wider than width of first segment of antennae. Antenna filiform, 14-segmented, length of a segment in middle about 8–9 times longer than width, inserted between lower margin of eyes (Fig.1 b,1c). Eyes globose, lateral ocelli placed on middle of anterior margins of eyes (Fig.1 b,1c). Disc of pronotum coarsely, with numerous small tubercles, anterior margin of pronotum straight (Fig.1 a), midkeel of pronotum completed, upper margin of pronotum undulated in profile (Fig.1 b). Lateral keels of prozona constricted backward (Fig. 1 a), humeral angle an obtuse shape, with abbreviated carinae between shoulders (Fig.1 a). Caudal end of pronotum narrow, short cone-shaped, just reaching the top of hind femora (Fig.1 a,1b). Humeral apex ridge and lower margin of pronotum connected behind middle of lower margin of pronotum (Fig.1 b). Posterior angles of lateral lobes of pronotum little produced outwards, obliquely truncate behind, posterior margin of each lateral lobe with two bisinuate. Tegmina long, ovate, apex rounded. Hind wings reaching the caudal end of pronotum (Fig.1 b). Anterior and middle femora elongated, margins of middle femora straight, without long hair(Fig.1 d), width of midfemur wider than the width of tegmina. Hind femur 3 times longer than wide, margins of hind femur finely serrulate, antegenicular and genicular denticles right angle. Outer side of hind tibia with 7–8 spines, inner side with 5–6 spines. Length of first segment of hind tarsi longer than third, third pulvillus longer than first and second, apices of first and second sharp, apices of third obtuse (Fig.1 e). Ovipositor narrow and long, length of upper valvulae 4 times its width, upper and lower valvulae with slender saw-like teeth. Length of subgenital plate equal to its width, posterior margin of subgenital plate slightly arched (Fig.1 f).

Body brown. Wings black (Fig.1 b). Outside of hind femur with two black transverse spots (Fig.1 b). Hind tibia dark brown, with light ring in the base and middle.

%: Body size smaller than female, feature of structure similar to female. Subgenital plate brief coneshaped, apex sharp (Fig. 1 g).

Measurements: Length of body: %5.5–6.0 mm Ψ6.5–7.0 mm; length of pronotum: %5.5–6.0 mm, Ψ6.0– 6.5 mm; length of hind femur: %4.0– 4.2 mm, Ψ4.8–5.0 mm.
