This species was based on specimens collected by C. Bruch. The current valid combination is Ochthephilum excellens (Blackwelder 1944).

Buenos Aires was not mentioned in the original publication, this species was described from “Chaunar-region”. The current valid combination is Ochthephilum minimum (Blackwelder 1944).

Tucumán was not mentioned in the original publication, this species was described from Paraguay. The current valid combination is Ochthephilum princeps (Blackwelder 1944).
