Anacroneuria manauensis Ribeiro –Ferreira, in Ribeiro– Ferreira & Froehlich, 2001:189, Figs. 5–10; Froehlich, 2003:130.
Diagnosis. This species is characterized by a dark head, body, and wings with a prominent, pale pronotal stripe. The ocelli are separated by twice their width and the aedeagus is sclerotized with a truncate apex. Females are characterized by the eight sternum having a deep median notch, with paramedian lobes being longer and thinner than lateral lobes.
Redescription of male. Holotype. Brown to dark brown. Body length 7.4 mm, excluding antennae and cerci (Fig. 6). Head (Fig. 8) medially dark brown, anteriorly light yellow with conspicuous spots of the same color as integument, laterally with clear areas between the base of antennae and ocelli; frons dark brown medially, light yellow anteriorly, and with conspicuous spots of the same color as integument anterolaterally, extending laterally to base of antennae and anteriorly to ocelli; ocelli separated by approximately twice their width. Scape, pedicel, and flagellum dark yellow to black; maxillar and labial palpi uniformly dark yellow. Pronotum light yellow medially with wide lateral margins and narrow posterior margins dark brown (Fig. 8). Meso– and metanotum with dark brown protuberances outlined in black. Legs dark brown ventrally with yellow spots medially; coxa and trochanter light yellow; femora anteriorly dark brown, posteriorly light brown with longer posteroventral bristles; tibia medially light yellow, without basal and apical brown spot. Fore– and hindwings with costal and distal areas infuscated with brown (Figs. 9–10). Abdomen light yellow with margins of segments slightly darker; cerci dark brown with long lateral bristles and usually with last segment light yellow; sternum nine (Fig. 26) wider than long with longer lateral and medial bristles, posterior margin projected medially; hammer (Figs. 27, 28) rounded in ventral view, flattened in lateral view, approximately 0.1 mm long; paraproct (Fig. 29) wider at base with longer bristles basally and medially and short subapical denticle. Aedeagus with a relatively short, truncate apex, without a keel (Figs. 30–32). Penial armature with hooks short, folded forward (Fig. 31).
Female. Similar in coloration to male (Fig. 7). Sternum eight with four lobes, median notch deeper and paramedial lobes longer than lateral ones (Fig. 33). Sternum nine with longer and denser submedian bristles and short median bristles extending anteriorly (Fig. 34). Cerci brown. Vaginal sclerite membranous (Fig. 35).
Nymphs. Unknown.
Eggs. Unknown.
Variations. Males vary in body length 4.9–9.0 mm; frons color yellow to light brown; antennae color light to dark brown; anterior wing 6.9–8.3 mm long, 2.0– 2.6 mm wide; posterior wing 5.6–7.1 mm long, 2.4–3.1 mm wide; longitudinal and transversal vein color in anterior wing light to dark brown. Females anterior wing 8.0– 8.9 mm long, 3.3– 3.1 mm wide; posterior wing 6.5–7.3 mm long, 2.8–3.1 mm wide.
Remarks. See remarks for A. minuta for comparison to other species.
