Description

Pheidole potosiana

Pheidole potosiana Wilson, 2003: 339, figs. Holotype major worker and associated paratype minor worker: Mexico, San Luis Potosi, 2mi NE Xilitla, 1400', 24 Dec 1972, deciduous tropical forest (R. J. Hamton, A. B. Hamton, B. S. Ikeda) [MCZ] (examined).

Geographic Range

Southern Mexico to Costa Rica.

Biology

This species occurs in wet to dry forest habitats. It is known almost exclusively from baits on the forest floor, although occasional workers occur in Winkler and Berlese samples.
