Description

Dolichopeza (Sinoropeza) hamulifera sp. nov.

(Figs. 5–9, 20, 27–30)

Diagnosis. Antennal scape obscure yellow, pedicel brownish yellow. Wing light yellowish, with cell sc yellow, cell r3 to m2 with sparse macrotrichia on extreme out ends. Lobes of tergite 9 long, lower margin medially trilobed. Lobe of gonostylus bent backwards at middle; clasper of gonostylus laterally with a long ridge, dorsal crest irregularly emarginated, posteriorly with a slender process bearing hooked tip.

Description. Male. Body length 8.5 mm, wing 12.0 mm. Female. Body length 5.0–8.0 mm, wing 10.5–13.0 mm.

Head (Figs. 6, 7). Rostrum dark reddish brown. Vertex obscure yellow, medially slightly swollen; occiput brown. Eyes rust. Hairs on head brown. Antenna 6.0 mm long; scape obscure yellow, pedicel brownish yellow, flagellum dark brown, long and cylindrical, first flagellomere with hairs from base to tip, other flagellomeres posteriorly with hairs at base, terminal flagellomere very short. Hairs on antenna black. Labellum black; palpus dark reddish brown.

Thorax (Fig. 8). General reddish brown. Pronotum brown; mesonotal prescutum dark reddish brown, with three polished reddish brown longitudinal stripes; scutum reddish brown; scutellum dark reddish brown; mediotergite reddish brown, posterior half with grayish pruinescence. Pleura uniform reddish brown. Coxae reddish brown; trochanters light reddish brown; femora basally brownish yellow, turning to dark brown to tip; tibiae dark brown; tarsi dark brown. Hairs brown. Wing (Fig. 20) light yellowish with cell sc yellow. Stigma light brown. Sparse macrotrichia in extreme out ends of cells r3 to m2. Veins brownish yellow. Halter with stem yellow, knob dark brown.

Abdomen. Ground color brownish yellow. Tergites brownish yellow with posterior margin brown and lateral margin blackish brown. Venter brownish yellow.

Hypopygium (Fig. 27). Tergite 9 and sternite 9 fused. Tergite 9 (Fig. 28) black, posterior margin slightly emarginated, laterally with a long process, apex rounded, lower posterior margin medially trilobed, only tips separated, central lobe as long as lateral pair, apex rounded, basally swollen. Lobe of gonostylus (Fig. 29) long and slender, rod-like, bent backwards at middle, bearing long hairs; clasper of gonostylus (Fig. 30) laterally with a long ridge, dorsal crest irregularly emarginated, posteriorly with a slender process bearing hooked tip, basal beak obtuse.

Female. Similar with male. Ovipositor (Fig. 9) small. Cercus short, fleshy, beneath with a broad lobe; hypogynial valve as long as cercus, yellow.

Type material. Holotype male, Hubei: Shennongjia, Banqiao (N 31˚24ʹ, E 110˚12ʹ0 4, 1170 m), 2007. VII. 21, Qifei Liu. Paratype 1 female, same data as holotype; 1 female, same place as holotype, 2007. VII. 24, Qifei Liu.

Distribution. China (Hubei).

Remarks. This new species is similar to D. (S.) pluricoma Alexander, 1935, but it can be separated from the latter by having scape and pedicel different from flagellum in color; macrotrichia in extreme out end of cell r3 to m2; the clasper of gonostylus laterally with a long ridge, dorsal crest posteriorly with a slender process bearing hooked tip. In D. (S.) pluricoma, the antenna is entirely dark brown; the macrotrichia distribute from cell r2 to cell m3 (Alexander 1935); the clasper of gonostylus has no ridge laterally, posterior crest has a long and strong black spine like process laterally (Savchenko 1983).

Etymology. Name of the new species refers to the small hooked process on the dorsal crest of the clasper of gonostylus.
