Raabeina gracila Zhang & Cao, 2011, sp. nov.

Description

7. Raabeina gracila sp. nov.

(Figs. 6, 13, 20, 74–83)

Description. Head as wide as pronotum, crown with anterior margin subparallel to posterior margin, coronal suture indistinct (Fig. 6). Frontoclypeus and anteclypeus narrow (Fig. 20). Wing venation as in Figs. 74, 75.

Ground color beige. Eyes yellowish-grey, somewhat black, with two small black patches at inner margin and outer margin. Distal half part of pronotum yellow. Forewing pale yellow, with clavus yellowish. (Figs. 6, 13)

Abdominal apodemes extended beyond fifth sternite (Fig. 76).

Anal tube appendage extended far beyond pygofer hind margin (Fig. 77). Pygofer side provided with three macrosetae at lower basal angle, with row of five rigid setae at hind margin and much larger one at lower margin (Fig. 77). Subgenital plate with distal region not pigmented; with three macrosetae at transitional part; with three minute peg-like microsetae at the angle of caudal part; peg-like setae at subbasal margin reduced to four; narrowed area extremely long (Figs. 78, 79). Paramere as in R. bubengensis (Fig. 80). Aedeagal shaft straight, much shorter than preatrium (Fig. 82).

Measurement. Male length 3.4mm; female length 3.3mm (including wing).

Material examined. Holotype: 3, China, Yunnan Prov., Damenglong, 600m, 22 December 1999, coll. I. Dworakowska; Paratypes: Ƥ, same data as holotype.

Deposition. Entomological Museum, Northwest A & F University, Yangling, China.

Diagnosis. The species differs from other species of Raabeina mainly by the subgenital plate. By contrast with other species, the apical part of the subgenital plate in this species is lightened, the narrowed area is elongated, and the reduced “basal group” of peg-like setae is shifted basally.

Etymology. This name is rooted in the Latin word “gracilis” in view of the elongated, constricted median area of subgenital plate.
