Fafana Rousse, Villemant et Seyrig, gen. nov.

Description. Head. Occipital carina complete but hardly distinct dorsally. Genal carina joining hypostomal carina above base of mandibles. Mandibles stout with two subequal teeth. Ocelli not enlarged. Maxillar and labial palpi respectively five and four segmented.

Mesosoma. Propodeum short with complete and strong carination. Scutellum weakly convex with excavated lateral sides. Hind femur in both sexes with a strong ventral tooth beyond its middle. Tarsal claws entirely pectinate. Fore wing with vein Rs&M opposite to vein cu-a and vein rs-m basal to 2m-cu by about its length, areolet absent. Hind wing with vein Cu1 pigmented and reaching the wing margin.

Metasoma. Slender, moderately compressed laterally. Tergite I with lower margins separated and parallel on their entire length. Glymma deep on basal half of the tergite, not reaching the spiracle. Tergite II with epipleura turned under. Gastrocoelus deep, thyridiae absent. Ovipositor weakly decurved, slightly swollen at apex; tip straight with a distinct subapical notch. Male gonosquama simple.

Comments. Genus related to Pristomerus, with which it shares a ventral tooth on the hind femur, similar fore wing venation and a deep gastrocoelus on tergite II. Fafana is clearly differentiated by the smooth microsculpture of the whole body, the straight tip of the ovipositor and the hind wing with Cu1 pigmented to apex.
