(Habitus see Fig. 5).

Wing: Hyaline, with greyish tinge; R4+5 and M converging before wing margin; distal section of M almost parallel to posterior wing margin; cross-vein dm-cu at acute angle to posterior wing margin, and about 3 times as long as distal section of CuA. Abdomen: Stout and thick, longer than thorax, sternum 4 with dense hairs apically, forming hood and partially enclosing hypopygium; Vsur reduced; Dsur with two lobes; cercus divided into two arms. Female: Similar to male, but face broader and legs with larger part yellow.

Remarks. Oedematopiella gen. nov. is distinguished from the closely related genus Oedematopus by the following combination of characters: small postvertical setae present; crossvein dm-cu at acute angle to posterior wing margin; fore tarsomeres modified in males; sternum 4 with long hairs; Vsur strongly reduced; cercus divided into two arms.
