Description

Genus Postispinatus n. gen.

Diagnosis. Eye lobes without visual elements. Mandible palp three–articled, article two with trifurcate setae in males. Maxillule without palp, margin of outer lobe serrate. Cheliped and pereopod 1 exopod present. Pereonites square, smooth or blunt, without lateral apophyses. Pleon narrower than pereon. All pereopods, dactylus without sensorial setae, pereopod 1 coxa without spiniform apophyses. Pereopod 1 with thick spiniform setae near union of dactylus–unguis. Pereopod 3 with unguis. Pereopods 4 and 5 with exopods on manca stage. Pereopod 6 with spiniform setae on dorsal margin of propodus. Pleotelson narrower than pereon, rectangular and elongate, not expanded laterally. Uropod basal article with two curved spiniform processes; exopod with less than four articles. Sexual dimorphism present in shape of cephalothorax, antennule, antenna, palp of mandible; chelipeds enlarged in males and dactylus of cheliped with dentiform process on male.

Etymology. (m.) From Latin posti, "posterior", spine and atus “behind” (m.), in reference of two curved spiniform processes on the basal article of uropod.
