Description

Thryssatrema n.gen

Type-species: Thryssatrema hanumantharaoi n. sp.

Diagnosis: Fellodistomidae, Fellodistominae. Body elliptical, broad posteriorly tapering anteriorly. Tegument smooth. Oral sucker somewhat funnel-shaped, ventral sucker small, rudimentary, in anterior quarter of body. Prepharynx absent, pharynx oval, esophagus long, intestinal bifurcation anterior to ventral sucker, ceca slender, reach to posterior extremity. Testes two, oval, symmetrical, in posterior half of hindbody. Cirrus sac claviform extends well posterior to ventral sucker, encloses bipartite seminal vesicle, prostatic vesicle, narrow ejaculatory duct. Genital pore median, immediately anterior to ventral sucker. Ovary deeply 3-lobed, median, immediately pretesticular. Mehlis’ gland small, ventral to ovary. Laurer’s canal opens dorsally at level of ovary. Uterine seminal receptacle not clear. Uterus fills most of posttesticular space. Metraterm weekly developed. Eggs numerous, small, thick-shelled, operculate. Vitelline follicles elliptical, in two small lateral zones in front of ovary, far posterior to ventral sucker. Excretory vesicle V-shaped, broad arms reach level of posterior esophagus.
