40. Stigmella basiguttella (Heinemann, 1862)

Host-plants. Quercus robur L. in the Crimea; probably also Quercus pubescens Willd. and other Quercus species, and Castanea sativa Mill. as in other regions.

Type of distribution (chorological group). Euro-Mediterranean; the species occurs from Spain and Great Britain to Finland, central European Russia, Greece and the Caucasus (from western Georgia to southeastern Azerbaijan).

Material examined. CRIMEA: 1♂, 20 km SW Feodosiya, Karadag Reserve, at light, 03.vii.1987, leg. R. Puplesis, genialia slide no. AN 206♂; 1♂, the same locality, at light, 29.vi.1988, leg. R. Puplesis; 3♂, the same locality, at light, 19.v–18.vi.1988, leg. Yu. Budashkin, genitalia slide nos AG 117♂, AG 121♂; 19♂, the same locality, at light, 26.vii–02.viii.2011, leg. J. R. Stonis, A. Navickaitė & G. Varačinskas; the same locality, empty leaf-mines on Quercus robur L., fieldwork card no. 5055, 25.vii.2011, leg. A.Diškus, A. Navickaitė & G. Remarks. The species is not rare in the Crimea: limited in distribution but abundant.
