32. Stigmella carpinella (Heinemann, 1862) (new to the Crimea)

(Fig. 48)

Host-plants. Carpinus betulus L. and C. orientalis Mill. in the Crimea (as in other regions).

Type of distribution (chorological group). Euro-Submediterrnaean; the species occurs from Italy and Great Britain to Sweden, Greece and the western Caucasus (Georgia).

Material examined. CRIMEA: 1♂, Dobroje, Krasnolissya, at light, 20.vi.1983, leg. Zagulaev; 1♀, 20 km SW Feodosiya, Karadag Reserve, mining larva on Carpinus orientalis Mill., fieldwork card no. 5027, 14.vii–01.viii.2011, leg. J. R. Stonis, A. Diškus & A. Navickaitė; 12 km E Sudak, Sonyachna Dolyna, empty leafmines on Carpinus betulus L., fieldwork card no. 5027, 17.vii.2011, leg. A. Diškus & A. Navickaitė; Yalta, Mountain Forest Reserve and Botanical Garden, empty leaf-mines on Carpinus betulus L., fieldwork card no. 5027, 19.vii.2011, leg. A. Diškus & A. Navickaitė; 23 km S Simferopol, near Angarskij Pereval, empty leaf-mines on Carpinus betulus L., fieldwork card no. 5027, 21.vii.2011, leg. A. Diškus & A. Remarks. The species is not rare in the Crimea: widespread but not abundant.
